Her Fight is Our Mission

Strength Support Survival

Dermatology

Cancer and its treatments often affect the skin, hair, and nails — sometimes subtly, sometimes in ways that deeply affect a woman’s sense of identity and confidence. At Apollo Athenaa Women’s Cancer Centre, dermatologic care is an integral part of our commitment to whole-person healing, supporting both physical comfort and emotional well-being.

Support During Treatment

Chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapies, and hormonal treatments can lead to a range of dermatologic side effects:

  • Skin dryness, redness, itching, or rashes
  • Pigmentation changes or increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Hand-foot syndrome (palmar-plantar erythema)
  • Nail fragility, discolouration, or separation
  • Hair thinning or loss

Our dermatologists work closely with oncologists to provide:

  • Early identification and treatment of skin reactions
  • Customised skincare plans using safe, oncology-approved products
  • Preventive advice to reduce the risk of infections or scarring
  • Management of hair and nail issues with gentle topical and oral solutions

Post-Treatment & Survivorship Care

Even after your cancer treatment is over, some effects on your skin, hair, and nails may continue or become more noticeable. That’s completely normal — and there is support available to help you heal, recover, and feel confident again.

Here’s how we help:

Scar Management

We help reduce the appearance of scars using:

  • Silicone-based gels or sheets – These soften and flatten raised scars.
  • Microneedling – Tiny needles create micro-injuries to stimulate skin healing and collagen production.
  • Laser therapy – Helps fade scars and improve skin texture.

Pigmentation or Texture Treatment

Treatments are offered to improve:

  • Uneven skin tone or dark spots left after therapy
  • Rough or patchy skin texture
  • These may include creams, peels, or laser-based options tailored to your skin type.

Relief from Chronic Dryness or Sensitivity

Many people experience:

  • Very dry, flaky, or sensitive skin
  • A reaction called radiation recall dermatitis (a red, itchy rash in areas previously treated with radiation)
We provide medical-grade moisturisers and soothing therapies to calm the skin.

Hair Regrowth Support

After treatment, hair loss or thinning can be distressing. We offer:

  • Topical stimulants (creams or serums that encourage hair growth)
  • Nutritional advice to ensure your body has what it needs to regrow healthy hair
  • Referrals for cosmetic solutions (e.g., wigs, styling, scalp camouflage) if desired

Cosmetic Dermatology for Confidence

For women who want to regain a sense of normalcy:

  • We offer cosmetic treatments such as light peels, fillers, etc
  • All options are tailored, safe, and gentle, with a focus on comfort, confidence, and healing

Care Designed for Women

At Apollo Athenaa, we understand that dermatologic symptoms aren't just "cosmetic", they are part of the lived experience of being treated for cancer. That’s why our care is tailored not only to medical need, but also to how a woman feels in her skin. We offer discreet, compassionate, and evidence-based support to help women feel more like themselves again, with no concern considered too small. Whether it’s a rash, a scar, or the hair loss, our team is here to help restore comfort and confidence.
