Does Selenium help in COVID 19 infection?

Selenium is a trace element.  It has effects on DNA repair, apoptosis, and the endocrine and immune systems and antioxidant properties and hence it can help antiviral response. One study found that Selenium deficiency can worsen viral infections. However, no studies have so far tested the effects of selenium deficiency or supplementation on COVID-19 infection.
