Will antibiotics help with coronavirus?

Antibiotics do not work against viruses, but there are some scenarios for using antibiotics in some patients with COVID-19. One reason may be that patients with COVID -19 pneumonia can develop a secondary bacterial infection that may need to be treated with an antibiotic.

Azithromycin is also thought to have antiviral and anti-inflammatory activity and may work synergistically with other antiviral treatments and is being studied currently.

Have synthetic antibodies been used for COVID-19?

Clinical trials have commenced evaluating if gimsilumab, an artificially synthesized antibody can reduce death risk among patients with Covid-19.  Covid-19 patients develop an excessive immune response causing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and death. Gimsilumab is a monoclonal antibody that attacks the granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF), a key driver of lung hyper-inflammation.
