Dr. Venkatakarthikeyan is one of the best surgeons in the field of otorhinolaryngology/ENT. My 81 year old mother was diagnosed with cholesteatoma with surgical removal as the only and urgent option. We found Dr. Karthikeyan through a family friend and had initially visited his practice at Apollo Greames Road for a second opinion and also to explore whether it was prudent to operate on her under general anesthesia, given her hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) condition and the cardiologist's pre-op rating of her as a high risk patient. Dr. Karthikeyan examined her reports and agreed to operate on her using local anesthesia. Those in the know would quickly recognize the surgical skill this procedure demands. Two weeks post operation my mother is recovering splendidly, her symptoms of dizziness mostly resolved and having literally no post-op pain. An excellent outcome, and all because of the superbly talented Dr. Karthikeyan and his highly efficient and capable team. If you spend a few hours around his clinic it becomes clear that the word has spread, the patient traffic is impressive and even more commendable is the personable, knowledgeable, helpful and efficient staff (albeit thin) around Dr. Karthikeyan. I wish him only the very best. Chennai is lucky to have him practice in the city. I also want to remind Apollo Hospitals (where he practices) of its obligation towards such talented doctors & surgeons, it is imperative that the hospital makes available resources that allows doctors like Dr. Karthikeyan flourish and make a difference in our society and city.

Dr. Venkata is God to me. I was suffering from chronic otitis media. Initially I consulted doctors in Kolkata and the condition worsened in last 3 years . The doctors from Kolkata informed me that my hearing will detoriate after the surgery and there is a chance of facial nerve damage. Then I went to Chennai Apollo and consulted with Dr. Venkata. The doctor is very polite and down to earth . He explained the situation to me clearly. He had performed right canal wall down mastoidectomy and tympanoplasty occiculoplasty with facial nerve monitoring. The operation was completely successful. It prevented me from life threatening consequences. I was discharged immediately next day after the surgery. I am completely fine now. My hearing has improved a lot.
